  KANARA  CATHOLIC  ASSOCIATION

BANGALORE

About Us

Kanara Catholic Association (KCA), is a non-profit organisation set up to promote cohesiveness and camaraderie within the Mangalorean community through social events, picnics and sports. KCA became a Registered body in 1988. The membership and Articles of Association were revised in 1994. KCA Bangalore was started in 1955 thanks to the initiative of early residents Leo D’Silva, Public Notary and John D’Sa, who was later Chief Engineer of the Karnataka State Government Electricity Board and Capt. Dr. George Mathias – a well-known coffee planter. The early meetings were held in the legendary Oorgaum House, the home of Rajpramukh PG D’Souza.

KCA’s vision is to promote educational, spiritual and cultural activities. A scholarship corpus fund started in the 1960s, has facilitated financial assistance even to this day, to several deserving students of the Mangalorean Catholic Community in Bangalore.

Wheels of Service

The message of service in action was seen as member of KE and the KCA handed over two ambulances to the Jeevan Jyothi Trust at the Archbishop’s house on Sunday, 4 July ‘21.

Archbishop Peter Machado, blessed the ambulances and handed them over to the Trust. This donation was made possible through the COVID Care initiative of KE members, along with the KCA. The two ambulances were donated by Ferns Estates & Developers (Errol Fernandes) and Deccan Group Manufacturers & Exporters (Adrian D’Souza, Clarence Pereira).

Spark to Start

A determined effort towards knowledge sharing and collaboration was evident as KCA, KONCAB, and KE jointly organised a Session on Start Up Entrepreneurs. The day-long meet was a fund of appropriate information, real-life experiences, resource-sharing, that fueled the spark to start an enterprise.
The event had experienced players in the entrepreneurship arena who shared their journey, and made a realistic canvas for the participants to draw their own framework. In a business climate dampened by the pandemic, the fresh burst of ideas, and possibilities was encouraging for the audience. The idea to dream on became compelling.
